Can I Use a B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch on a Reese Revolution Pin Box?

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 10/30/2025

Question:

1. I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 long bed with the gooseneck turn overall and no OEM puck system installed. I need a 5th wheel hitch that is compatible with a reese revolution king pin or am I able to lock out the king pin and use the BandW companion. 2. I am under the impression i cannot have both turn over ball and 5th wheel rails at the same time correct?

Hey Zach, thanks for all the information. Since your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 has the B&W Turnoverball item # BWGNRK1020 installed you'll need to use the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3500 and lock out the Reese Revolution pin box so it doesn't rotate. Locking it out will turn the Revolution into a standard pin box and there's no compatibility issues with it and the Companion item # BWRVK3500 when you do this.

You can add 5th wheel rails to the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch item # BWGNRK1020. The Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter item # 16310 is designed to drop down into the square receiver and provide you with a set of 5th wheel rails. You still can't use this setup with a rotating pin box though.

To make towing with a 5th wheel easier, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C53CR. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Hey Zach, how did things go after locking out the Reese Revolution pin box and pairing it with the B&W Companion on your Sierra? Your results could really help others trying to match that setup with a Turnoverball hitch.
