Which ABS Brakes Are Good To Replace Old Ones On 2022 Airstream Classic 30RB ?

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 10/28/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 Airstream Classic 30RB. How can I tell if I have 7K or 8K Dexter ABS brakes before ordering?

Ryan, start with looking at the axle tube so you don't have to get your hands too dirty just to check what parts you need:

~3 inch tube with 7K Tow Assist hubs = order the # DX69WR Left and # DX79WR Right

~3-1/2 inch tube with 8K Tow Assist hubs = order the # DX55WR

If you’re checking bearings, remember both use 25580 inners. 7K can have 14125A / 15123 / 02475 as the outer 8K is 02475 outer only. Since bearings can overlap, the tube diameter and/or axle tag is the simplest way to nail it. There is also typically a code stamped into the hubs. Let me know if you have any trouble!

Thanks Andrew! Just measured and my tubes are right at 3", so looks like I’ve got the 7K axles. I’ll go ahead and order the #DX69WR and #DX79WR. Do I need to do anything special after install for the ABS to recalibrate?

@Ryan Perfect call, Ryan - 3" tubes confirm you’re in the 7K Tow Assist range, not the 8K. Once you install the new # DX69WR / # DX79WR assemblies, you won’t need to manually recalibrate anything. The Tow Assist system runs a self-check each time the trailer is powered up. You’ll see the indicator light turn green once it recognizes the sensors - that means you’re good to go. After the first few miles, go through Dexter’s short burnish cycle (about 20 slow stops) to seat the linings evenly. That’ll help them perform smoothly. Let me know how it goes.
