Looking For A Shocker Hitch For My 2003 Ford Excursion Pulling A 7k Trailer

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 10/20/2025

Question:

I am interested in a shocker hitch. I have a 2003 ford excursion, 7.3 l diesel with 4 wheel drive. I primarily pull a RV that weighs 7,000 lbs. What model do you recommend? thanks

Hey Patrick,

The Shocker Hitch # SHK47VR would be a solid option for you. It has plenty of capacity for your trailer giving you room to pack it up and not have to worry. I am not sure what size ball you need for that trailer but the # SHK47VR uses a 2-5/16 ball with a 2" rise/drop on it as well. You will have to let me know if you need more of a rise or drop so I can see if there is a better option out there for you. If you already sit pretty level then the # SHK47VR will be a great option for you.

What kind of trailer are you pulling?

Hey Patrick, how did the Shocker Hitch work out with your RV setup? Did the 2-inch rise/drop keep your Excursion and trailer sitting level? Your feedback could help others towing similar loads.

@NickS yes, the standard shocker hitch worked for my setup of a Ford Excursion and Airstream trailer.

@Patrick That is great to hear. I am glad it worked out well for your setup. Have you been able to take any trips with it before winter hits?
