Are Spindle Replacements Available for 3,500 lb Trailer Axles

Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/18/2025

Question:

Im working on a boat trailer which has 2 3500 lb axles. One is galvanized and the other appear to be a replacement. Galvanized one has the axle drilled to grease. Measured 1.719 in seal surface. One is horrible shape. Black pipe one, can I just buy an end and weld it on? Is there any upgrades.. 4000 or 5000 lb upgrade. Seems like my boat is 6000 lbs, so it hard on bearing. Need a spare... and some boat bunk bracket to make it easier to load. Michael

Hey Michael, yes you can replace just the spindles of your 3,500 lb axles like with the part # TRU74FR which also has the brake mounting flange as well. To weld it on you do need special jigs for this job so that you end up with the correct alignment.

For a bearing kit that fits a 3,500 lb axle we have the part # BK2-100 which includes spare bearings and a seal.

Hey Michael, how did things go with replacing the spindle on your 3,500 lb axle? Did the new spindle and bearing kit line up the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar boat trailer repairs.
