Best Rear Suspension Enhancement For 2019 Ram 1500 4x4 Crew Cab

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 10/06/2025

Question:

I have a 2019 ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 short bed Laramie with a leveling kit installed. I occasionally tow a 6700 lb travel trailer and use a weight distribution hitch but the rear of my truck still sags about two inches. What are your suggestions to help me regain my truck to level while towing yet keep my comfortable ride when not towing. I like the idea of the Sumu springs because of their simplicity but worried abut a stiff ride when not towing. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out. Looking over the available options for your 2019 Ram 1500 4x4 Crew Cab, I do believe the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-47 will be best suited for your application. They are 1,500 lb rated so you will be gaining a good amount of support for the rear end. The SumoSprings have a progressive spring rate. Meaning the more weight applied, the stiffer they become. So when they first make contact with the axle, they will be softer than when they are fully loaded. They can make the ride slightly stiffer when unloaded, since they do not make constant contact with the axle, but the pros will outweigh the cons. They will help keep your ride level which will in turn improve stability, handling and braking. Also, like you said, they are extremely easy to add on.

The video I linked below will show you an example of installation.

Hey Steve, how did the SumoSprings work out on your Ram when towing your travel trailer? Did they give you the support you needed without making the unloaded ride too stiff? Your feedback could really help others looking for the same balance.
