Question:

Hello, can someone advise me as to if the bumper attached hoists work in removing the larger sliding 5th wheel hitch that weighs in the 220 range after removing the claw portion of the hitch? Any recommedations?

Hello Louie, thanks for reaching out. I have heard of people using hoists for lifting heavy 5th wheel hitches out of the bed. We offer a hitch mounted hoist that has a 300 lb capacity. Take a look at the following:

- Viking Solutions Rack Jack II Hoist w/ Winch - 2" Hitch Mount - Steel - 300 lbs # 310-VRJ001

Basically as long as the hitch or bumper is rated to handle the weight, a hoist will be fine to use.

Hey Louie, how did things go using the bumper-mounted hoist to lift your 5th wheel hitch? It’d be great to hear if the hoist handled the 220-pound weight smoothly. Your experience could help others looking for a safe way to remove heavy hitches.
