Does e84YR Axle Come Overslung Or Underslung?

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/09/2025

Question:

I noticed your 2k lb. trailer axles are listed as underslung. The trailer I want to replace the axle on is overslung. I dont want to have to deal with having to find a shop to weld new spring seats to make the axle overslung and installing the axle underslung will leave the fenders sitting too low and the tires will make contact with the fenders when going over bumps. So my question is do you have any overslung axles that I am just not seeing or am I pretty much out of luck and will have to find a shop to weld new spring seats to the top of the axle if I want to keep my trailer configuration the same as it is now? Thank you

Hello Matthew, thanks for reaching out. As of right now, all of the axles we carry are underslung. Honestly, I wish we did carry overslung axles since they are becoming more common, especially of 5th wheels. There are talks about us making this happen, but there is no ETA for when we would actually carry that. For now the only option would be to get the axle along with a few loose spring seats part # TRSS175 and have them welded to the top of the axle.

The # e84YR axle you were looking at had a 60" hub face. Is this the size you are needing?

Hey Matthew, did you find a solution for your trailer axle setup? I'm curious if you went ahead with welding the spring seats to keep your trailer configuration the same. Your experience could really help others facing a similar challenge.

@JesseM No, I haven't decided what I am going to do yet. With my boating done for the year, I'll probably just get an underslung axle and have to fabricate some new fender mounting brackets to account for the change in height.
