Replacement Screw to Attach a SL Adapter to a SkyLine Tower for Yakima Crossbars

Updated 09/03/2025 | Published 08/25/2025

Question:

I stripped out the round bar SL adapter for my Yakima skyline roof rail mounts. I see listings for the round bar adapter but cannot find the screw that threads into the adapter. Do you have this screw available? Even if it’s in a kit. I don’t want to have to replace the entire tower because of one screw. Thank you!

Hey Steve. To attach the RoundBar SL Adapter item # 8880641 to a SkyLine Tower like item # 8880614, you'll need the Replacement Pitch Adjustment Bolts for Yakima SkyLine Towers item # 8880615.

What vehicle do you have?

Looking at the tower with it in the mounted position, the pitch adjustment bolt is inserted horizontally to lock the adapter in place to the bar so that the bar doesn’t move, but the bolt I’m looking for is inserted vertically from the bottom of the tower to screw into the adapter. The thread pitch is the same for both of these bolts but the head is larger on the pitch adjustment bolt. Also, the bolt that screws into the adapter has a groove for an E-clip to snap into to keep the screw in place. Do you know for sure that the pitch adjustment bolt will work to hold the round bar adapter in place?

@SteveW We've had customers use the Replacement Pitch Adjustment Bolts item # 8880615 as replacements before for the RoundBar SL Adapter item # 8880641 to a SkyLine Tower like item # 8880614.

@JerredH Thanks for the info and your response, I’m glad to hear I can use one of those. Yakima does not offer the bolt and wants you to buy a new tower in order to replace that bolt!
