Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 08/13/2025

Question:

How’s the signal on this system for a 38-foot fifth wheel? My old wireless setup got fuzzy past 25 feet.

Denise, the universal Brandmotion Wireless HD Observation Camera System # BM37SR system is built for long-body RVs and works with up to 80 feet of range, more than enough for your 38' 5th wheel. It uses a 2.4 GHz digital link, so you’ll get a clean, HD picture with virtually no lag across the length of a large trailer.

The kit’s range is rated to handle full-size trailers without dropouts, as long as the antenna is attached and oriented upright on the camera. For best results, keep the camera antenna clear of metal obstructions.

What brand and model trailer is it going on, Denise?

hey Andrew, I’ve got a 42-foot Montana fifth wheel. would the Brandmotion system still give me a clear picture all the way to the monitor in the truck cab? My buddy’s setup cuts out every time he goes under bridges.

@Carl Hey there, the Brandmotion # BM37SR is designed with that exact scenario in mind. At 42 feet you’re still well within its rated 80-foot working distance, so you’ll see a steady HD image. The bridge cutouts your friend sees are usually caused by cheaper analog systems that lose sync when the signal gets bounced around. The Brandmotion uses a locked digital signal, so it recovers instantly if there's any delay, instead of cutting out completely. Are you planning to add side cameras too, or just the rear view for now? That’s something a lot of Montana owners like to do for merging and lane changes.
