Updated 08/12/2025 | Published 08/11/2025

Question:

I have a 2006 Itasca Sundancer with a Coleman 8535b676 model air/ heat pump. I am wanting to add a slow start option or a new low start replacement.

Hey Rob, what you are looking for is the SoftStartRV part # SSR54FR that you referenced. This will prevent the large amperage draw on startup of your Coleman which will make it a lot easier on your power system. How do you like the Coleman?

Thanks. If I was considering a new AC unit what options do I have that would work with my RV?

@Rob You can't really beat the Furrion Chill Cube like the part # FR69TD if you are looking for a replacement. This blows the coldest, is by far the quietest, and also has a start capacitor built in so it draws very low amperage. Only thing it doesn't have that you have now is a heat pump. Is that a deal breaker? A heat strip is coming at some point for it but that doesn't really compare to a heat pump.
