Can I use this rack for my carbon road bike and my wife’s heavy step-through e-bike?

For sure, Alan. The Crosstrack’s wheel-only mounting design means no pressure on delicate carbon frames, and the 66-lb per bike capacity supports most e-bikes as well. Just make sure each bike’s tires are under 4” wide and wheelbase is under 52” and then you'll be all good to go! We have the 2 bike rack in 1-1/4" & 2" with # HLY48RR and just the 2" with # HLY38RR . Only difference is the first option comes with an adapter to switch between the two hitch sizes.
