Question:
I have a 6’x12’ enclosed trailer. I would like to do a Dexter over and under conversion to get some extra height. What information of the existing axle do I need? Thank you for your time and have a great day. Best regards

Hi Brent!
You have decided upon the easiest and quickest way to lift your trailer, and for that, I commend you. The only thing we need to know to get you the correct Over-Under Kit is the diameter of you axle. I have both options listed below:
2-3/8" Axle (typically a 3,500 pound axle):
Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00
3" Axle (typically a 5,200 to 7,000 pound axle):
Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00
For a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer, you probably have 3,500 pound axles. However, I have told people to just get parts without measuring first and it has bitten me in the bottom, so I always recommend double checking before ordering.
Are you wanting to go to a larger wheel/tire, or are you bottoming out?

Hey Brent, Did you get a chance to measure the diameter of your axle for the conversion kit? I'm curious if you decided to go with larger wheels or if you were having issues with bottoming out. Let me know how it worked out, as it could really help others in a similar situation!
