Looking for Coupler Repair Kit for 1974 Airstream

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/22/2025

Question:

Good Morning! I have a 1974 Airstream Argosy and it has the original coupler with the original coupler parts. The trailer squeaks pretty loudly when I pull it and I was considering replacing the coupler parts with a coupler repair kit but wanted to get your thoughts. First, because its so old, it doesnt appear that I can just purchase a typical coupler repair kit and replace the parts due to the way the coupler itself is set up. Second, Im having trouble finding a 2 5/16ths coupler repair kit that looks like what Ive got. Id love to chat with someone and send a couple of photos that will make my explanation make more sense and see if youve got a solution for me. Thanks so much! Ben

Hey Ben, so it gets pretty hard to find coupler repair kits for modern trailers unfortunately which means that with the age of your trailer it's very difficult. Do you happen to see a brand name or any info on the coupler though? Maybe it was replaced at one point. It's probably time for a new coupler though. Is it an A-frame coupler?

Hey Ben, did you manage to find any brand name or details on your coupler? I'm curious to know if you figured out a solution, as it might help others with similar vintage trailers!
