Best Rear Suspension Enhancement Option For 2014 Ford E350

Updated 07/11/2025 | Published 07/10/2025

Question:

I have a 2014 Ford E350 XLT. When full of passengers and a loaded trailer my front end wanders. Im assuming rear is overloaded. I am looking at either upgrading springs, sumo springs or an air bag assist. I dont pull the trailer all the time. What would be your recommendation?

Hello Shannon, thanks for reaching out. An air bag kit would be ideal for this. Since you aren't towing or hauling full time air bags would allow you to level the van when you are loaded, then you can reduce the PSI when you are unloaded so the ride isn't too rough. When the back is sagging like that it lifts the front end up off the ground. The front is where you get your steering and braking.

We offer one kit for the 2014 E350, the Firestone # F2061. These are 5,000 lb rated air bags. Please keep in mind this kit is intended for models with dual rear wheels only. It will only fit Cab and Chassis, and Motorhome models. If this is not what you have please let me know and there are alternatives we can look into.

Mine is not a dual rear wheel set up. It is a standard single rear wheel van.

@ShannonW Gotcha. In that case what I recommend are the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-130-54. These will help to reduce sagging without making the ride too rough. You might feel a small difference in the ride quality when driving unloaded but they will help to add a lot of support when loaded up. They are 2,800 lb capacity.
