Can DeeMax 3,500 lb Axle Hub/Rotors Fit on 4,400 lb Trailer Axles

Updated 07/02/2025 | Published 07/01/2025

Question:

I have a 2 sets of the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - 10 Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Maxx Coating - 3,500 lbs Part Number: DE66YR on my 7000lb trailer. Can these hubs fit on 4400lb axels? What is the axel diameter they support?

Hey Gary, this is a great question but it comes down to what brand axle you have. The Dexter 4,400 lb axles use the same bearings as the 3,500 lb axles so your current DeeMax rotors # DE66YR would work but if instead your axle is a Lippert or AL KO brand axle they would not transfer as they use a different bearing set. If you can find out your axle brand and let me know I'll be able to help further if needed.

I currently have Lippert 3500 lb and just put the deemax DE66RY brakes. But want to keep the brakes and put the 4400lb dexter axel on. Will that work. I just bought these brakes from etrailer and just had them installed.

@Gary yes it will work as the spindles are the same on a 3,500 lb Lippert axle and a 4,400 Dexter axle.

Can you send me all the brake specs relevant to matching up a 4400lb axel?

@Gary Like what info you need to determine the fit? Basically it comes down to bearing numbers. The Dexter 4.4k hubs use the bearing numbers # L68149 and # LM67048.
