Question:
I am looking to replace a Dometic blizzard nxt DUCTED 15k with heat pump. It is a top mounted lag screws with no air distribution box. I understand there arent any real plug and play replacements. Which rv air conditioners can be are designed to be mounted directly to the roof?

Hey Scott. All of our AC units require an air box. The closest thing I have to what you're describing is going to be the GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - White - Complete System item # GE85ZR. This would be a complete replacement system with a heat pump but you would have to install an air distribution box.
What kind of trailer or motorhome do you have?

It's a fifth wheel. The blizzard NXT offers two different types of installation. The standard installation where you have a 14x14 hole in the ceiling (and roof) which is the bottom mount installation with an air distribution box and a bracket that typically screws in and secures from the bottom (inside the RV). The other installation is a top mount in which there is only a 14x14 hole in the roof and the plenum is smaller, there are small ceiling mounted air intake vents and the cold air output dumps directly into the ceiling ducts. With this installation there is no 14x14 hole in the ceiling on the interior of the coach and therefore no need for an air distribution box. So I was looking for another air conditioner with this particular option. I know that everything is doable through modification but the customer wants a fully intact warranty. Warranties usually fly out the window once you make any sort of modification to the AC unit.
