What Size Screws Are Used For The Solera Head Covers?

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 06/26/2025

Question:

Can you tell me what hardware I need to attach this to the back cover? My front cover and hardware fell off somewhere along a highway on my maiden voyage with my new trailer. It would be helpful to know what hardware I need so I can order too, or pick it up at a hardware store and have it ready when my parts come in. Thanks! Bay on your team has already helped me find the right parts, but I see this does not come with hardware, so I need that too.

Hello Mo, thanks for reaching out. According to Solera, the screws for their head covers are 6-15 UNF x 1/2”. We do not carry the screws by themselves, but if you check your local hardware store you should be able to find some thing compatible.

Hey Mo, did you manage to find the right screws at your local hardware store for your trailer's head covers? I'm asking because your experience could help others who might need similar hardware.

Is that a sheet metal screw? When I enter that in Home Depot and Google it is described as "#6 1-1/2 in. Phillips Hex-Head Sheet Metal Screws ." Does that sound right? It's a plastic cover so a sheet metal screw sounds odd.

@MelanieW Yes that sounds right. They can be wood screws or metal screws. They aren't getting tightened down like crazy so as long as the diameter and threading matches they would work fine.
