Replacement for Atwood GC10A-4E Water Heater

Updated 06/22/2025 | Published 06/17/2025

Question:

Have a GC10A-4E Atwood water heater. Won’t light on either gas or 110v. I have no red light on the board and the board emits a faint whine when turned on at switch inside. Does this indicate a bad circuit board? Worked fine yesterday but not today. Thanks for your help. Gas supply is fine. Water in tank.

Hey Tom, that does sound like you have a bad board on your GC10A-4E. Atwood is no longer around so unless you can find replacement parts somewhere the only option would be to completely replace the water heater.

You can swap it out for a similar 10 gallon water heater like the GE Profile RV Water Heater - Gas/Electric # GE97RR (white) or # GE24RR (black). This fits cutouts measuring 12-3/4" tall x 12-3/4" wide x 26-1/4" deep. You can also switch to a tankless water heater like the Furrion # FR92TD.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Thanks for the info. I have ordered a replacement circuit board that should work. The water heater has been working perfectly since we bought the coach. 2008 Monaco Monarch. I cleaned and flushed it out and changed the thermostat a few months ago. All seems good. If it happens again I’ll consider replacing the water heater. Thanks again.
