Will I have Enough Ground Clearance if I Use the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack on My Elantra?

Updated 06/11/2025 | Published 06/07/2025

Question:

I’m looking at the thule easyfold xt e-bike rack for my 2019 Hyundai Elantra because the rack can use a 1 1/4 class 1 hitch. I’m a little concerned about the clearance from the ground to the bottom of the rack given the small size of my car. I got your company name from a local car care company that would install my hitch and they apparently use your products exclusively

Hello William,

I understand your concern with ground clearance.

I looked up the difference between the hitch receiver clearance on the Hyandai Elantra compare to a Honda Civic, your Elantra has an extra 1-2" of clearance compared to the Civic. You are probably wondering why I am comparing the 2 cars, I do not have an image of the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # TH903202 on an Elantra, but I did attach some of the rack on the back of a Civic, that way you can see that clearance will not be an issue.

The # TH903202 is a great rack, the weight capacity is 65 pounds per bike, it is user friendly, and I love how it folds up for when it is not in use, makes storing so much easier.

Do you have a specific trail you like to go ride? We have the Katy Trail here in Missouri, it is loaded with all kinds of bikes!

Thank you so much for this response! That certainly eases my mind about using this rack on a small car.
