Question:
Hello. I am having a problem with leveling out my 2014 Rockwood Ultra light due to the fact of not being able to find a hitch that will fit in my 2019 2500 Hd the trailer don’t sit level. I have the Curt A20 on the S20 with the Curt puck system adapter. I am thinking the easiest way to get the front of the trailer to go lower is to replace the pin box. Any suggest for a less angled pin box than the revolution i currently have on my Rockwood?

Hello Mike,
Let’s get you level so your towing experience can be much more enjoyable.
Since you have the Curt A20 slider, it’s important to note that it should not be used in combination with the Reese Revolution. You want either a sliding hitch or a rotating pin box, not both, as combining them can create unsafe towing conditions.
You're on the right track with the Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 - 18,000 lbs # LC328492. Replacing your Revolution with the Curt will likely lower your trailer nose by 1", possibly 2" at most. Please send over a photo of the sticker on your current pin box so I can verify the bolt pattern and confirm the exact match. The Lippert 1621 is common on Rockwood units, but since this is a heavy freight item, we want to be absolutely sure.
Your Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C55DR, at its lowest setting, sits at 17 1/2", not including the added height from the puck adapter rails. If you were to go with a hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K # BWRVK3770, which mounts directly into the OEM prep package on your 2019 Silverado 2500 HD, it would sit right at 17". That swap alone could give you at least another 1 1/2" of clearance.
This two-part solution, swapping the pin box and the hitch, would offer the most impact by slightly lowering the hitch and making the pin box slightly higher to get you the most level.
I know this isn’t the most budget-friendly fix, and I’m sorry that it might involve more investment than expected.
Have you been able to tow the 5th wheel yet with your current setup?
