Recommended Crossbars for a 2020 Honda Ridgeline w/ a Leer Cap and Thule Tracks

Updated 06/06/2025 | Published 06/04/2025

Question:

I have an oldetowne flint fishing kayak and an eddyline skylark recreational kayak. I am buying a leer truck cap for my 2020 Honda Ridgeline. I would like to use 2 malone waterwing racks with stingers. The truck cap is coming with thule tracks already installed. 1 Will the waterwings work? 2 What length cross bars will I need? Thank You

Hey Kent, thanks for the information! Yes, the Malone SeaWing Kayak Roof Rack w/ Load Assist and Tie-Downs item # MPG113MD will indeed work for your kayaks. You will need to tilt your Oldetowne Flint fishing kayak when you mount it though. It looks to be a bit wider than the carrier.

For a set of crossbars and towers that will attach to the Thule tracks on your Leer truck cap, you'll want the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack for Factory Tracks - 2 Vortex Aero Crossbars item # Y02-490B-NT. These 59" crossbars are compatible with the Malone item # MPG113MD and are long enough to fit two. The pivoting bases allow for adjustment so you can make sure the crossbars are level. This kit has a 220 lbs capacity but you will want to check with Leer and go off of whatever capacity is lower.

Would The Yakima sweet rolls be a better option? Again I need 2 side by side. Thank you

@Kent I think they would. I prefer the assist function of the Yakima SweetRoll item # Y04074 over the Malone SeaWing item # MPG113MD. I think its far sturdier and easier to control without help. Your crossbars and kayaks are definitely setup to support two of them.
