Can Yakima 54" HD Tracks be Cut down for Smaller Area on Shell/Topper

Question:
I’m looking to do a custom install of tracks to a fiberglass shell on the bed of my 2018 Nissan Frontier crew cab with a 5ft. bed. Due to the contours of the shell/topper, the flat mounting surface for the tracks is only about 48in. long. If I were to cut the tracks down to fit the mounting surface, would the finishing pieces that go on the end of the tracks still be able to attach to the cut ends for a nice finished look?

Hey Kieran, thanks for reaching out!
Yes, you can trim the Yakima 54" HD Tracks # Y64MR down to your 48" length you need and the end caps will still fit. That's one of the benefits of using one of these track systems!
What do you plan on loading up on top of the shell/topper?

Hey Kieran, I'm glad to hear you're considering the Yakima tracks for your custom install. Did trimming the tracks and attaching the end caps work out for you? I'd love to hear your outcome as it could give others confidence when customizing their setups.
