Need Air Bag Kit For 1986 Toyota Sunrader 21ft RV With OEM Airbags

Updated 05/21/2025 | Published 05/19/2025

Question:

Hi - I have a 1986 Toyota Sunrader 21ft RV. I want to replace the airbags as the OEM ones no longer hold their air. Can you make a few suggestions on the different kits I could use: Air Lift vs Firestone Ride Rite. Thanks

Hello Kent, thanks for reaching out. I am a bit of a Toyota enthusiast so I always get stoked to see these old Toyotas still on the road. I own a 2006 and a 2010 Corolla and they are just amazing cars. They don't make 'em like they used to lol.

Anyways, we do offer a LoadLifter kit from Air Lift, part # AL88113 that is custom fitted for the 1986 Toyota Micro Mini Motorhome Chassis. They have a 5,000 lb capacity so they will do a great job supporting the rear end of your RV.

I am not exactly sure where the OEM air bags install but if they are right on top of the axle/spring pack those would need to be removed to install the Ride-Rite kit. Take a look at the diagram I included below.

Amazing thank you for the quick response! I love my Toyotas, we have a small fleet of Yotas (Land Cruiser, Highlander, Tacoma and this RV) and they're bullet proof.

@Kent They really are! I have a 2013 Sienna too and I love that van. The corollas and most pre 2010 Toyotas really are indestructible. Change the oil and keep up on the routine maintenance and they can last forever. I am at about 180,000 miles on my '06 and I hope to at least double that mileage before I get rid of it. Unfortunately it was totaled in a hail storm last year but I still drive it. That original 2006 window glass held up amazingly well to softball sized hail here in Missouri.
