Question:

hello, i am interested in a hitch bike rack. i have a 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport L, with a 1.25” hitch. ideally the rack would carry up to 3 bikes with fenders and at least 1 is for a woman and 1 child bike. are there any good options for this? thanks in advance,

Hey Robert. Your options are pretty limited for a 3 bike rack that fits a 1-1/4" hitch. The best option, with the highest capacity, is the Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack for 4 Bikes item # Y02458. This is a hanging bike rack that has a 40 lbs per bike capacity.

For your woman and child bike you will most likely need the Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar item # Y02531 to get the bikes to mount to the cradles. This adapter bar is sold individually and will attach to the seat and handle bar post to give you a level attachment point.

How heavy are your bikes?

hi jerred, thanks for your response! the bikes are 35-40 lbs each except for the child bike which would be lighter.

@JerredH i noticed Thule has similar looking racks for 4 bikes, for example such as the Apex. how do the yakima and thule compare? thanks!

@Robert The Thule Apex item # TH9025XT has a lower capacity per bike at 375 lbs per. The major issue with it is that you can only carry 2 bikes if you have a class I 1-1/4" hitch.
