Question:
I have this Curt unit installed on my 2015 Honda Odyssey. it works great with the trailer equipped with 4 pin connector but it does not with trailer equipped with 7 pin connector and 4 to 7 adapter. Only brake and turn signal works but not marker lights. Wondering what could be the problem. Thank you

Expert Reply:
The wiring for your trailer's marker lights on the 7-way connector are on different circuits than the Curt item # C56378 controls.
You'll need a 7-way connector on your 2015 Honda Odyssey to control the running lights. You can add one with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your vehicle with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector, like your Odyssey and plugs directly into it.

Thank you for your response. I don't think it makes much sense. I only need taillights to work not add extra features. After some more testing and measuring voltages on the Curt adapter and Odyssey fuse box I came to the conclusion that it was Curt part that was defected. No matter if taillight on the car were OFF or ON Curt device will always output 5 volts. My solution was to just bypass black box by connecting brown wires and drive trailer lights directly from odyssey. It works fine and LED lights only draws 0.3A so should be ok in the long run. Thanks.
