Advent AC Unit - Having Trouble Getting 12v Power From Controller To Thermostat
Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 05/10/2025 >
Question:
I bought this advent air condition package with the electric thermostat. We’re having a hard time getting 12 V from the unit. Is there a transformer in the unit that transforms to 12 V for the thermostat? https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Air-Conditioners/Advent-Air/ADV95SR.htmlexp-productdetails=.videos

Hello Jim, thanks for reaching out. For the Advent # ADV95SR there is a wire coming off the controller for providing 12VDC power to the thermostat. It should be a 22 gauge wire red with a white stripe. Then the green wire is ground output to thermostat.
Are you not getting 12VDC on the red/white wire? It is worth double checking all your connections and make sure everything is connected properly and good to go. A loose or incorrect connection could cause issues like you are describing. Make sure your ground connection is solid.
Take a look at the diagrams I included below, they should help. Hit the reply button below and I am happy to continue to help troubleshoot.
