Question:

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD SRW and looking for a hitch to go along with the Curt Helux pin box. I would like something that would be easy to remove weight wise. We are looking at an Alliance fifth wheel. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Going with the Curt Helux Shock-Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box – 24K GTW – 6,200 lbs TW # C83RJ is a fantastic choice! I really like how they designed the spring system so you don’t have to worry about filling up an airbag. Great ride quality with less maintenance? Yes, please!

Curt may have nailed the pin box design, but when it comes to fifth wheel hitches, I really like the B&W brand. When picking out the correct hitch, a couple of factors come into play, like bed size and whether or not you have the OEM Prep Package. Here are the different options to choose from:

- 6 3/4' Bed WITH OEM Prep Package: B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package – # BWRVK3775

- 6 3/4' Bed WITHOUT OEM Prep Package: B&W Companion Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Turnoverball for Chevy/GMC – Dual Jaw – 20K – # BW45SR

- 8' Bed WITH OEM Prep Package: B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package – Dual Jaw – 20,000 lbs – # BWRVK3710

If you have a 6 3/4' bed, you’ll want a slider hitch to ensure you have the clearance for those sharp turns, no one wants to ruin a trip by taking out the cab of their truck. I’ve also attached a couple of review videos for you to check out.

Thank you for getting back to me. We have a long bed and was looking for something that would be easy to remove from the bed of the truck. Either light weight or comes apart in pieces to make it easy to remove. So is the B&W easy to remove?

The nice thing about the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3710 is that it can be taken out in 2 pieces since the head is removable. The base weighs almost 84 pounds, and the head is about 70 pounds. If you happen to have some kind of pully system, you could use the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches # BWRVXA3130 to be able to easily remove the hitch. B&W is a great company, with amazing USA made products. Their customer service is wonderful, and they stand behind their products.
