Question:
Hi, We have a Subaru Outback 18 with 48 Thule Edge crossbar and one Thule Hullavator Pro. We have two 2 Stellar Compass 11s which have a 27.1 beam. We would like to carry both kayaks horizontally. Would a second Hullavator Pro fit? Or do you have another recommendation?

Hey Donna! The Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 takes up a lot of space so you will need at least 57" of crossbar space if you want to mount two of them. If you want to add another to your 2018 Outback you will need to switch to the 60" Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711520.
With the Edge that would also mean you need new feet and clamps so basically a whole new roof rack. You will also need to measure from edge to edge where the legs mount to see if this will fit. This distance needs to be between 46-1/2" - 59-3/4". For the complete rack you need the Evo Flush Rail Feet # TH710601 along with the Fit Kit # TH37CE.
If you don't want to swap out the roof rack the next best thing would be to use a J-style carrier on the other side like # MPG114MD-351XL so you have enough room and still have load assist. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.

Hey Donna, did you have a chance to measure the distance between the mounting points on your Outback to see if the new roof rack setup would fit? I'm curious to know if you decided to go with the new crossbars or if you opted for the J-style carrier instead. Your experience could really help others in a similar situation!
