How Could Tension of Slide Out Awning be Lowered
Updated 04/23/2025 | Published 04/20/2025 >
Question:
I believe the tension is too tight on my slide awning. I have a Winnebago Series M. After installing the awning, the slide worked a half dozen times. Now it gets “stuck.” It’s not catching, and it’s straight. How do I lessen the spring tension?

Hey Mark, it would be a matter of disconnecting the awning from the awning rail and then letting it roll itself out a couple times and then reattaching it. Hopefully you still have the pin that locks the roller to the arm assembly. If you fastforward to the 10 minute mark of the attached video link you can see how this all goes together.
