Can Frame Brackets of Weigh Safe Weight Distribution Attach to Sides of Frame Directly
Published 04/14/2025 >
Question:
Hi, question on weight distribution hitches: I have an aluminum open trailer for hauling my race car. It’s a Timpte 18 ft trailer and the frame rails are “C” channel. To make matters worse the bottom part of the C channel is around 3.75 inches wide and the top part of the C is around 2.5 inches wide. So a tradition mounting method for the brackets that attach to the trailer frame rails won’t work. Do you have a suggestion for how to work around? It looks like the Blue Ox distribution hitch has an adapter available that would drill in to the frame rails to attach. But I’m very fond of the Weigh Safe distribution hitch, are you aware of an adapter available for that hitch? Thanks for any help! I can provide pictures if my description is confusing.

Hey Kurt, is the outside of the frame channel totally vertical or does it taper in? If it's totally vertical you could attach the channel of the Weigh Safe weight distribution frame brackets to the frame by bolting them directly to the trailer or you could have them welded. If you wanted to send me picture you could email them to me at [email protected]
