Is There A Way To Improve The Security Of The Yakima OverNOut Awning?
Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/11/2025 >
Question:
Im looking to improve the security for my clamps/awning. Im interested in a tamper-resistant bolt that can replace the standard one that comes with this clamp assembly? see image 1. Does Yakima sell one? 2. Does eTrailer sell one? 3. Can I source a full-threaded tamper-resistant bolt online as a replacement as long as I match the length and thread or will that not work since the original bolt is a special shoulder bolt? Any other advice on improving the security of the clamps would be welcomed. Thanks

Hello, and thanks for reaching out. That is an interesting question so I ran it by my contact at Yakima. The only form of security they offer for the OverNOut clamps are the SKS lock cores and keys. There is no other product for adding security to the awning.
A tamper-proof bolt is a good idea but we would not offer anything that could be used for that purpose. Yakima also does not recommend using anything other than the included hardware since this would void your warranty.

Hey, were you able to find a good way to secure your Yakima OverNOut clamps after checking into the SKS lock cores? Knowing what worked could help others looking to add a bit more security to their awning setup.
