Question:

Will the Ecohitch for a Mercedes Benz GLE fit the GLE C53 AMG or is it just for the GLE 350, 450, and 580?

Hey Larry! I'm sorry to say the EcoHitch # EH55SR is not a fit for the AMG 53 Coupe models. The only compatible hitch is the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH99MR. This also has a removable receiver and is designed to handle accessories up to 600 lbs. If you are planning on towing you need the # SH62TR which includes the towing kit.

I should have specified it’s the C53 AMG SUV not the coupe. Does that make a difference?

@LarryD I believe that actually falls under the GLE SUV w/ AMG EXTERIOR LINE PKG designation on the Stealth Hitches side which would be the # SH49MR. I can confirm that at the beginning of the week when they are back in the office. I am 99.9% sure EcoHitch won't know but I can ask. They only list the GLE 450 4MATIC & GLS 450 on their site which tells me they have no fitment information outside of that.

@RobinH were you able to confirm with Stealth that the GLE SUV with AMG exterior Line package would work with the GLE C53 AMG?

@LarryD the correct hitch is in fact the # SH99MR. However, this is what Stealth Hitches had to say about it: "While we do have a hitch for the Mercedes GLE AMG 53 Coupe (SHR32023), we have not confirmed it on the SUV version. Looking at the rear bumper fascia it seems to be similar but slightly different. We had an installer install our hitch on the SUV version (I think it was a 2023) and he said it fit but the cutout was different than in our instructions and it was difficult due to there being a seam in the bumper fascia/diffuser near or at where the cutout needs to be. There were also some other minor differences between our installation instructions and the SUV version." They're unwilling to fully commit but if their own installer successfully installed it on the SUV version it is most certainly a fit. The only issue is those differences aren't covered in the instructions and there won't be a cutout template. I recommend taking it to a local installer unless you're pretty handy.
