Question:
Hi there, we have 2 Jasion X-Hunter E-bikes that we want to transport with our 2022 Tesla Model 3. I am looking for recommendations for a bike rack we were hoping to find one that can accommodate our bikes without needing to get a hitch installed. Each Electric bike weighs about 70 lbs, so the rack would need to be able to accommodate about 150 lbs total. Thanks

Hello Rachel, thanks for reaching out. Those Jasion X-Hunter E-bikes look awesome! You are 100% going to have to install a trailer hitch on your 2022 Tesla Model 3 if you want to haul them. There is no trunk mounted rack that can hold a bike like that. Alternative frame aside, they are simply too heavy to be carried with a trunk mount rack held on only by clips and straps. It would be highly unsafe and you would not want to risk damaging expensive bikes.
What you will need to do is install a trailer hitch like the etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e33ZR. There is also a Stealth Hitch option part # 391TES317 if you prefer the removable receiver.
This has a 2" receiver and will allow you to use a bike rack intended for carrying e-bikes. Something like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY74FR would work great. It can hold two bikes weighing up to 80 lbs apiece.
I hope this helps. Leave a reply below with any comments or questions and I will get back to you.
