Does TowSmart Hitch for 2021 Mercedes GLB Require Frame Drilling

Question:

Hello, Looking to get a hitch for my 21 Mercedes glb250. I watched the video for the installation procedures for the draw tite hitch on this same vehicle so I’m considering that but also looking at the oris hitch. I don’t see much information on that fitiment can you content on the installation of this hitch? I’d prefer not to drill frame and cut heat shield but am fully capable if that’s required for either. I’d be towing a small boat 16’ around 2k total weight with a tongue weight that I can lift. Cheers, Graham

Hey Graham, the Draw Tite hitch part # DT77YR does require drilling as it attaches to the bottom of the frame of your 2021 Mercedes GLB but the Oris TowSmart hitch part # TS26VR does not as it installs basically behind the bumper beam. Both hitches require trimming the fascia though but that's very minor and not a big deal at all relative to frame drilling. This would be what I would go with since there's no frame drilling and when not in use the hitch would be out of sight since the lower portion is removable.

Hey Graham, how did things go with the Oris hitch on your GLB250? Did the behind-the-bumper design make the install easier than you expected? Your update could make it easier for others deciding between these two hitches.
