Replacement Hub and Brake Assemblies for a Dexter 9,000 lbs Axle

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/16/2025

Question:

This is a 2001 flatbed trailer with dual tandems. One break drum is worn beyond repair. I think so I think I will need at least one break drum and two complete red shoes sets. I think it is a 9000 pound rated axle but not sure. Sending photos of the tag.

Hey Ron thanks for the pictures! To replace the hubs on your Dexter axle you'll want the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 9K to 10K Axles item # K08-288-90. These are designed to replace hubs on axles that were manufactured before July 2009.

To replace the brakes you'll want the Left Hand Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly item # 23-450 or the Right Hand item # 23-451.

Hey Ron, how did the new Dexter hub and brake assemblies work out on your flatbed trailer? Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same axle setup.
