The term cab-and-chassis refers to a vehicle that was originally manufactured to be a platform for a motor home or recreational vehicle. In other words, it is considered the foundation for a vehicle rather than the complete vehicle.
Sometimes the fit of certain components will vary between the cab-and-chassis and standard full versions of a vehicle.
As it happens, in the case of your 1990 Dodge Ram pickup there is one custom-fit harness that fits both the cab-and-chassis and regular pickup, the part you referenced, # C55317 from Curt. This harness installs without the need to cut into your truck's wiring through the use of plug-in connectors. Installation consists of plugging the T-connectors in at the tail light assemblies and making one wiring connection to the vehicle for the white ground wire.
