Hey Russell, thanks for reaching out!
You can swap out the brakes to an idler hub setup, and for that I recommend the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K which comes pre-greased and has a galvanized finish which will be great for a yard trailer as that provides better protection than a standard powder coat.
All you'll need to do is confirm the inner diameters of your bearings and seal:
- Inner bearing: L68149 (1.378" inner diameter)
- Outer bearing: L44649 (1.063" inner diameter)
- Grease seal: 58846 (1.719" inner diameter)
If you have something different, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to continue helping you out!

Hey Russell, did the Easy Grease idler hub setup end up fitting your spindle and bearings the way you needed for your yard trailer? Once you confirmed those bearing and seal sizes, I’m curious how the swap went. Your update could make it easier for others doing the same kind of conversion.
