Can A Rooftop Tent Be Safely Used On A 2011 Honda Civic Sedan?

2011 Honda Civic 4 door sedan 1 No existing rails or crossbars is the Inno Square Bar Rails for a naked roof rated at 220 lbs safe to mount a car rooftop tent and have people sleep in the tent safely? the civic roof load is rated at 850 lbs.

Hello Charles, thanks for reaching out. Sadly, there is no way to safely mount a rooftop tent on a Honda Civic. Rooftop tents can only be mounted on vehicles with factory roof rails and with a reinforced roof structure. The roof racks for the Civic use clamps that attach to the door jamb. These door jamb style roof racks are not strong enough to support a rooftop tent. That inno square bar roof rack does have a 220 lb dynamic capacity, but you cannot safely use this for a rooftop tent since it mounts to the door jambs and the Civic roof is not reinforced.
If you want to do some tent camping, the best option would be to use a simple pop-up tent like the Kelty Rumpus Camping Tent # KE49TR which can sleep 4.
