Why Would RV Kwikee Steps Start Working in Reverse
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/03/2025 >
Question:
I replaced nothing on my kwikee power steps, it just started working in reverse. RV tech suggested that I replace the door switch. I understand that this is a common issue when you replace a controller, motor, or the entire assy, but I did nothing - it just started happening. Any ideas???

Hey Jeff, this is an odd thing to happen but we've seen it before and the fix is simply to cut the two wires that run to the step motor and then switch the polarity but wiring it "backwards" and the steps will start to work like they should again. I would try that first since it's free and then if not that let me know and we'll look into a replacement controller.

Hey Jeff, how did things go after you switched the polarity on the step motor wires? Your results could really help others who run into the same issue with their Kwikee steps.
