Can Curt Pintle Hook # C48004 be Used with 3 inch Lunette Ring
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/26/2025 >
Question:
Hi Timothy, I have this exact pintle hook for my 2" receiver. I just bought a new trailer and it came with a 3" (inside diameter) lunette ring. Is it safe to use these two devices together? Why are there different size lunette rings? Thank you.

Hey Audry, yes the Curt Pintle Hook for 2" Hitches # C48004 will work with your 3 inch diameter lunette ring. This is perfectly safe to use with what you have. Larger rings have a bit more capacity. It's like hitch balls. Smaller balls are okay to use with lighter trailers but larger balls are needed for bigger trailers.
