Do Handles of B and W Companion Hitch for Ford Have Clearance for Transfer Tank
Updated 02/19/2025 | Published 02/18/2025 >
Question:
How far past the front of the hitch does the lever stick out when the jaws are in the open position? Im trying to figure out how much room Id have for a fuel transfer tank in front of the hitch on a long bed F350.

Hey Karl, this is a great question but the handles of the B and W Companion Hitch part # BWRVK3300 only rotate out 90 degrees so they do not require clearance in front of the hitch. What this means is that your transfer tank will fit with it no problem. Do you have a transfer tank pick out already?

One of the transfer tanks I’m looking at is an RDS 70 gallon toolbox/tank combo. It’s 30 inches from front to back (meaning from the front bed wall back toward the tailgate). That puts it relatively close to the hitch. Just wondering if it’s close enough to interfere with the lever on the hitch being able to swing into the forward (jaw open) position. There’s a 60 gallon version that’s only 20 inches front to back, but it’s taller, meaning that it’s a couple of inches taller than the bed rails, so I wouldn’t be able to use a tonneau cover.
