Hello Karen, thanks for reaching out. The Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106 is rated for highway speeds. Technically the trailer itself has a speed rating of 94 mph but we do not recommend ever towing anything that fast. Realistically you will want to stay around 65 mph during your trip. We have heard customers tell us the trailer does fine at 70-75 mph, but 65 is considered the safe zone. It might be a good idea to keep a spare tire with you, part # Y08121 just in case.
We are located near St louis too (Wentzville). I imagine you will be taking Hwy 70 pretty much the whole way to Silverthorne, so as long as you stick to the posted speed limits you will be fine. We once drove from St. Louis to Denver in a single day and I remember it being straight highway the whole way with hardly any turns. Driving through Kansas is super boring too, unless you love looking at corn and cows lol.
Feel free to reach out and reply below if there is anything else I can do to help.
