Question:

Can i use 78inch bars on the 66inch trailer without the crossmember kit? Im thinking this would be similar to using longer bars that a roof rack is specd out for. Assume that I would be centering trailer loads and not exceeding the 66inch trailer cargo weight spec.

I spoke with my contact at Yakima and although the Round 78 Inch CrossBars, # Y00411, will fit on the Yakima 66 Inch Rack and Roll Trailer, # Y08106, with out the Crossmember Conversion Kit, # Y08111, we can not recommend doing this.

Since the Yakima 66 Inch Rack and Roll Trailer, # Y08106, was not designed for the longer bars, the center of gravity would be altered which would increase the chance of turning over the trailer.
