Troubleshooting Low Pressure on a RV Stove Hooked Up to a Quick Disconnect

Updated 01/28/2025 | Published 01/26/2025

Question:

I I have a 2019 Apex 215RBK trailer. I added a propane quick connect to the distribution block under the trailer to feed a CampChef Everest stove that I converted to accept propane from the trailer. Everything works except that I seem to have a low flame at the stove due to low pressure. Could upgrading my trailer regulator get me more fuel/pressure at the stove and solve my problem. thanks for any help you can provide.

No, sorry Tim. Another regulator is not going to help and that's actually your problem. You've got a regulated propane supply coming from your trailer going into a stove with a regulator. When you double up on regulators you reduce your gas pressure to next to nothing like you're experiencing.

I am not familiar with CampChef Everest stoves but if you can get that regulator off and run your propane line directly to it you'll solve your pressure problem.

Jerred, I removed the regulator on the stove. That’s why I asked the question.

@TimH Good to know! Thought that was an easy solution for you. I'd check the line you ran for leaks, and try a different propane tank if you haven't already. Also if you used thread tape, it could have gotten some over the hole causing a blockage. If none of those are the problem, I recommend taking it to an RVIA tech to diagnose.
