Question:

Looking for a replacement core for this lock from an old Sears X-Cargo. Key code is 2862, key broke inside the lock. I removed the rivets and locksmith said he could replace the core if I could find the right one for it. I have included the picture of the bottom part of the locking mechanism also.

Hello Charlie, thanks for reaching out. We do offer a lock that will work for this. The Sears X-Cargo boxes used to be made by Thule back in the day, and a lot of those boxes use similar locks. Thule is still in business, and they still use these same locks on their cargo boxes. So, for a new lock core and keys, what I recommend is the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450200. This comes with 2 new lock cores and 2 keys and a universal change key. It won't match the current key so you will have a new key number.

Removing a lock with a broken key can be tricky but as long as your locksmith can do it without damaging the lock housing, the Thule locks will work for you.
