Does 2019 Ram 2500 B&W Gooseneck Hitch Latch Spring Closed When Released?

Updated 01/07/2025 | Published 01/06/2025

Question:

I installed the turnover gooseneck in my 2019 ram 2500 that I bought from you. The latch when I pull it open. Is fine but if I release it. It doesnt slam back fully. Does this break in? Or is there an issue with my kit. I have to manually push it back closed to lock the ball in fully.

Hey Michael, thanks for purchasing the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1320 for your 2019 Ram 2500!

The hitch ball latch has to be moved back to the closed position manually in order for it to secure the hitch ball, so it sounds like your system is working properly.

Do you already have a 7-Way in your truck bed? I know the newer trucks are hit and miss, but if you don't have one, I recommend installing the Hopkins Endurance # 41157 so it's easier to hook up your gooseneck wiring for towing.

I'm saying it doesn't always spring closed. I have to push it in manually.

@Mike Right, that's how it operates (see attached tabletop video). Sorry if I worded that in a confusing manner!

I installed the 7-way when I installed the 5th wheel prep.
