Question:
Have 2 old hay rakes with a 4 on 4 hub pattern. Tire size not original are currently 235/75R15. There are no fender or clearance issues. 1. Can I use 205/65/R15 tires on these rims? 2. Do you sell a 5 on 4.5 hub that could be used to replace the current hubs. I understand I may have to replace spindles too to do this. Total weight of each rake is around 750 lbs. Wheels are due to the rake being ground driven. There is no other load on these tires. Thank you.

Hello Dl,
Yes, you will be able to swap your 235/75R15 for the new tire size 205/65/R15, they are both for a 15" wheel, the 205/65/R15 is going to be a little bit narrower (by 30 millimeters) but will go on just fine. The 205/65/R15 would be a great fit for the # AM22653.
As for the hubs, to get you into a more common 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern, I see that the Hay Rakes usually have a straight spindle (you will want to double check) with bearing numbers L44643 (I.D. 1") for both inner and outer. If that is the case, you will want to use the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-LFEZ-1K. If you pull your bearings out, or measure the spindle and it does not match up, let me know what you do have so I can find the right part for you. I have included an image that shows where to measure the spindle (using a digital caliper) if you cannot find the numbers on the bearings.

Hey Dl, how did the swap to the 205/65R15 tires work out on your hay rakes? Were you able to confirm the spindle size and try the 5 on 4-1/2 hub setup? Your results could really help others working with older ground-driven rakes.
