Will Two Malone SeaWing Kayak Carriers Fit on 2016 Ford Explorer

I have a 2016 ford explorer and want to haul to sit on top kayaks about 31” wide each. I was looking at the malone seawing and was wondering if those would work hauling both kayaks or would i have to go with a J-style to haul them. Thank you.

Hi Kevin; the answer to your question really depends on how much space you have on the crossbars. The kayaks will be the widest part of the setup. Assuming you ran the carrier all the way over to the towers on either side I would say you need 35"-36" of crossbar space for everything to comfortably fit with the SeaWing # MPG107MD or # MPG113MD (with load assist).
If you find that you don't have enough space I would go ahead and get J-style carriers like the Malone DownLoader # MPG114MD or # MPG114MD-351XL (with load assist). You won't have a problem fitting the kayaks on your Explorer with this setup. I also recommend grabbing the Rightline Gear Moki Door Step # RL100660 which makes it easy to reach the roof to get your kayaks secured.
