Question:

Hello, I just purchased a 42foot diesel pusher motor home a 2014 Itasca Meridian 42E and plan on dinghy towing a 2014 Ram 1500 crew cab laramie limited with 5-7inch box. I am not sure what I need as far as parts. I know I want the Blue Ox system. Here is what I have on my list that I think I need. BX7380 Alpha Tow bar BX2409 baseplate I am not sure what I need as far as accessories I was looking at the Blue Ox BX88229 if you could give me some recommendations as far as what I am thinking about getting. I also need a brake controller and was looking at the Brake Buddy Vantage . Thank you.

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2409 is indeed a correct fit for your 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Limited; I confirmed this with my technical contact at Blue Ox. The Alpha tow bar # BX7380 you referenced is fully compatible. This tow bar includes the required safety cables.

The other components you'll need for safe and legal flat-towing are a lighting/wiring kit and a supplementary braking system for your towed truck. For wiring use # RM-15267.

I suggest the USA-made Roadmaster Even-Brake Tow Bar Braking System # RM-9400 that allows for simple no-splicing installation. An excellent option from Blue Ox is their Patriot Portable Braking System # BLU37TR.
