What Does 3 Flashes on Redarc Smart Start Battery Isolator Indicate
Updated 12/10/2024 | Published 11/27/2024 >
Question:
Why would I get a 3 flashes fault indication on the isolator only when plugged into shore power and the house battery in the motorhome is switch to useon ? No other faults any other time. Seems like the charging voltage going to house battery is somehow causing this condition. 2015 Class C

Hey John, so the three flashes you are seeing on the Redarc Isolator part # 331-SBI212D indicates a voltage drop or "excessive current draw fault". Since this is happening with shore power plugged in that would indicate there's something going on with either your transfer switch or your AC to DC converter so you'd want to check voltage on that output when shore power is on to see but most likely it needs to be replaced.

Thanks Jameson, troubleshooting my issue is like a moving target. The first issue I experienced was one wire that was hooked up incorrectly that wouldn’t allow the slide to operate, fixed. Still experienced different scenarios with the flashing light. Have been in contact with RedArc and they gave up and are sending me a new replacement unit and I am sending the current one back to RedArc for their analysis. I told them if this new unit doesn’t work correctly, I am removing it and reinstalling the original isolator that was installed from the factory and I guess I will be out the money I paid for the RedArc product. Trying to make an improvement has turned into a fiasco.
